L-Se-Methylselenocysteine is an organic selenium compound, which is a selenomethylated derivative of L-selenocysteine, the 21st essential amino acid for the human body. It is soluble in water, insoluble in acetone and ether, it is white crystalline powder that smells like garlic. It is frequently used as a selenium nutritional enhancer and is found in food, health products, and medications since it is the safest and most readily absorbed form of organic selenium.
